Inside Sales Representative

The inside sales team is responsible for the majority of our daily contractor business. In this role, you’ll quote prices for customers, provide delivery and payment information, and offer substitute products and have the opportunity to upsell where appropriate. You may also support Dominion’s outside sales reps by providing sales and customer service support.

Someone who is good with people, enjoys helping others, communicates well, understands product specifications, and likes solving problems will excel in in this position.

Two years' related experience or knowledge of electrical products or distribution is necessary to hit the ground running in this role.

The Inside Sales Representative will be based in Laurel, MD.

Warehouse Crew (1 PM-9:30 PM, M-F)

This position is responsible for making sure the right materials get to our customers in a timely manner. It’s the entry point for your career at Dominion, and where many of our managers and directors started. Warehouse position between $15.50 to $17.50 per hour depending on experience, roles and schedules. In this position, you'll:

  • handle materials in our warehouse
  • pick, pack, and stage materials for delivery to customers
  • confirm accuracy of orders
  • load delivery trucks

Applicants must possess strong attention to detail, and be comfortable with computer systems. Must also be physically able to climb ladders and stairs, and be able to lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.

Wire Crew Members - Chantilly, VA & Baltimore, MD

Wire is perhaps the most valuable and in-demand product we sell to our electrical contractor customers. Every electrical job requires wire, and we sell tons of it. The wire shop is a busy, hard-working, important department at Dominion. Warehouse positions pay $15.50 to $17.50 per hour depending on experience, roles and schedules. Wire crew staff:

  • handle materials in our warehouse
  • use wire-cutting machines and equipment
  • process wire orders for delivery to customers
  • confirm accuracy of orders
  • load delivery trucks

Applicants must possess strong attention to detail and be comfortable with computer systems. Must also be physically able climb ladders, and stairs and be able to lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.

Delivery Drivers (Chantilly, VA & Baltimore, MD)

We are currently hiring drivers for our Chantilly, VA and Baltimore, MD distribution facilities.

Drivers are responsible for getting product to our customers safely, and in timely manner. Dominion drivers are the face of the company to our customers in the field. Delivery driver responsibilities include:

  • maintain communication with dispatchers
  • complete vehicle safety inspections, manifest and load verifications
  • help load and unload trucks, when necessary
  • handle customer concerns, handle complaints
  • document deliveries and errors
  • perform clerical and warehouse functions as needed

Applicants must have a commercial driver’s license, possess strong attention to detail, and be customer-focused. Must also be physically able to bend, stoop, climb, and balance on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Must also climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding and be able to carry or transport items up to 45 pounds.

Will Call/Warehouse (7 AM-4 PM, M-F)

The will call clerk provides the first impression for customers visiting Dominion. This position requires excellent communication (written and oral), problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills. Applicants must be comfortable with computer systems, work well with others, and maintain a positive attitude. Warehouse positions pay $15.50 to $17.50 per hour depending on experience, roles and schedules. Will call responsibilities include:

  • assembling orders by picking, packing, and staging product from the warehouse
  • monitoring and managing orders;
    contacting customers for pickup
  • collecting payment
  • helping customers load materials

Applicants must possess strong attention to detail, and be comfortable with computer systems. Must also be physically able to climb ladders and stairs, and be able to lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.

Counter Sales (Several Positions)

The counter salesperson is the face of Domnion to many of our day-to-day customers. We are always looking knowledgable, helpful, and friendly  counter sales staff for our multiple branches throughout the DC–Maryland-Virginia area. Counter sales staff must be able to:

  • Sell distributor products and services
  • Determine and disseminate customer price and availability information
  • Recognize the need for special pricing and provide competitive quotations
  • Understand product applications and assist customers in their selections
  • Participate in offered training sessions
  • Expedite customer orders through the purchasing department
  • Interact with sales managers, outside sales staff, purchasing, and marketing to provide customer and sales information
  • Provide market pricing level feedback to the management and purchasing department
  • Stay up-to-date and informed on products and their applications
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings to discuss issues, management initiatives, incentive programs, and marketing activities
  • Work with accounting and warehouse staff to process sales; pick up orders from warehouse as needed
  • Use proper discretion and good judgment when dealing with customers, sales reps, and coworkers
  • Keep all counter displays and areas current, clean and neat
  • Other duties assigned by the department manager, director, or VP

Applicants should possess good interpersonal communication and persuasive selling skills, plus a working knowledge of electrical materials and products. Previous sales experience and/or electrical industry experience are required.

What is electrical distribution?

Electrical distributors buy, sell, and deliver thousands of products from manufacturing companies to users such as electrical and building contractors, factory maintenance staff, do-it-yourselfers, and service professionals. These electrical construction materials include wiring supplies, electric light fixtures, light bulbs, security systems and other electrical power equipment, such as switchboards, circuit breakers and fuses.
