The 2020 pandemic spiked a boom in outdoor activities, especially individual activities like biking and kayaking. Kayak sales were up 51% in February 2021, compared to February 2020…this was after the previous 4 to 5 years had seen a small but steady decline in the paddle industry. So, we thought, “What a great time to run a kayak giveaway, just in time for holiday gift-giving!” With help from our friends at IDEAL Industries, we launched the “Picture your IDEAL day” promotion on October 1.
Let’s give away some kayaks!
Each of our 10 Dominion Electric Supply Inc., locations will give away a Lifetime Angler Fishing Kayak after December 15. Ten separate drawings will be held on Friday December 17, and the 10 lucky winners will be announced on Monday, December 20 on our website and Facebook.
The more you visit a Dominion counter, the better your chance of winning! And of course, we’d like you to purchase your favorite IDEAL Industries products while you’re there.
Why are Dominion and IDEAL Industries giving away kayaks?
A few or our “senior” counter managers remembered how much customers appreciated the mountain bike drawing we held many years ago. They mentioned it to Eric Hall, our IDEAL manufacturer’s rep, and he shared it with the marketing team.
We wanted to change it up and up the ante by giving away a kayak at every location. Plus, our marketing director (me) is especially fond of kayaking. (After not being able to buy, beg, borrow or steal one summer 2020, I got mine at the beginning of summer 2021!)
Look for smaller giveaways now through December!
IDEAL has generously donated smaller prizes which we’ll give away about every other week throughout the promotion — IDEAL branded 18 oz. color grip tumblers, 20 oz. copper vacuum insulated tumblers, polycanvas insulated lunch coolers, and telescoping flex flashlights. Each location will hold drawings for these smaller prizes, all leading up to the big kayak giveaway in December.

Now throughout November, O.T. Hall & Sons reps will be visiting our counters to show you the latest and greatest IDEAL products, as well as the old standbys you’ve come to know and trust. Look for IDEAL’s new line of stainless steel and forged wire strippers, an expansion of the T-stripper line. IDEAL Electrical also created the IDEAL National Championship, a skills competition that draws thousands of Professional Electricians and Students/Apprentices across the nation to compete for over $500,000 in cash and prizes.
