La historia de Dominion

1940

Con un solo empleado, un camión y un pequeño escaparate en el 4754 de Lee Highway, Meyer H. Sharlin empezó a vender material eléctrico a contratistas y propietarios de viviendas de la zona de Washington, D.C.

1947

En 1947, Dominion Electric se trasladó al 5053 de Lee Highway, Arlington, su sede actual, que por aquel entonces tenía un tercio del tamaño del edificio actual.

1957

El año 1957 fue un año de crecimiento para Dominion. Se abrió un nuevo local en la 3ª y Massachusetts Avenue NW en Washington, DC, y el local principal en Arlington sufrió su segunda remodelación.

1986

A mediados de los ochenta, el negocio estaba en pleno apogeo. El personal del almacén trabajaba toda la noche para empaquetar los pedidos y entregarlos al día siguiente. Era el momento de expandirse. Meyer y Richard Sharlin encontraron un terreno cerca del aeropuerto de Dulles y construyeron un nuevo centro de distribución y sala de exposición. Se abre un nuevo espacio de 25.000 pies cuadrados en Chantilly, VA. En aquel momento se pensó que era demasiado grande, pero Dominion ocupó todo el espacio en 18 meses.

1993

En 1993, Dominion compró los activos de US Electric Supply y se instaló en el espacio de Gaithersburg, Maryland.

1997

Continúa la expansión en el mercado con la adquisición de Leesburg Lighting, que introduce a Dominion Electric en los suburbios occidentales.

2012

En 2012, Dominion adquirió YES Electric en Alexandria, con lo que siguió ampliando su presencia.

2017

Stephen Krooth asume el cargo de Consejero Delegado y la sede corporativa se amplía a 5015 Langston Blvd.

2021

En 2021, se completó una importante renovación de la sala de exposiciones de Arlington para coincidir con el lanzamiento de la nueva marca Dominion Lighting.

2022

En 2022, la ubicación de Twin Springs/Baltimore South se trasladó a un nuevo centro de distribución y mostrador de suministros de 125.000 pies cuadrados en Curtis Bay, MD.

2023

En 2023, la sala de exposición de Chantilly se sometió a una importante renovación para alinearse con Dominion Lighting.

2024

Dominion Electric Supply Company becomes part of Border States, a 100% employee-owned company and one of the largest electrical distributors in the United States. This partnership strengthens Dominion’s ability to serve customers with expanded resources and a broader product offering while continuing its long-standing tradition of service excellence.

Dominion continues to operate with 300+ employees, 50+ delivery vehicles, partnerships with 700+ manufacturers, 10 counter locations, and 2 Distribution Centers: Chantilly, VA (85,000 sq ft) and Curtis Bay, MD (125,000 sq ft). We also operate 2 Dominion Lighting showrooms in Arlington, Chantilly, and stock 18,000+ inventory items. While much has grown, our greatest strength remains our people — many of whom are second- or third-generation employees. Some team members have been with us for over 50 years, a testament to our culture of loyalty, expertise, and shared success. Dominion’s legacy lives on through our passionate employees, strong customer relationships, and commitment to evolving with the needs of our industry. Now backed by the power of Border States, we look forward to continuing our service-driven mission for decades to come.
